About Green Island Light Tower
The Green Island Lighthouse is located in Green Island Township, Taitung County and was built in 1939. According to legend, the American Red Cross donated money to build the lighthouse here after the American liner President Hoover hit a reef and sank off Gongguan Village on Green Island in December 1938. The lighthouse was damaged by bombs during World War II, but was restored in 1948.
The 33.3 meter high Green Island Lighthouse is a Class 4 rotating lens AC type, with an output of 100 watts, an illumination range of 25.7 nautical miles, and has been standing by to illuminate ships passing by for decades. The lighthouse is a pure white rectangular structure with a magnificent presence against the sky and sea.

By car
1. National Highway No. 5: Take National Highway No. 1 (Zhongshan Expressway) to the Xizhi System Interchange, then take National Highway No. 5 (North Latitude Expressway), cross the Xueshan Tunnel, and exit at the Su-ao Interchange. Travel in the direction of Taiwan Highway No. 9, transfer to Taiwan Highway No. 11, arrive in Taitung City, transfer to Fu Gang Street, go to Fu Gang Fishing Port, transfer to Xin Lan Island, Chang An Ferry or Hovercraft No. 91 to Green Island, upon arrival at Green Island, transfer to the island transportation to Green Island Lighthouse.
2. National Highway No. 5: Take National Highway No. 3 (Erhighway) to the Nangang System Interchange, then take National Highway No. 5 (Beiyi Expressway), cross over the Xueshan Tunnel, and exit at the Su-ao Interchange. Drive toward Taitung Highway No. 9, transfer to Taitung Highway No. 11 to reach downtown Taitung and Fu-gang Street, take Fu-gang Fishing Harbor to Xin Lan Island, Changan Ferry, or Hovercraft No. 91 to Green Island, transfer to island transportation to reach the Green Island Lighthouse.
By Air: From Taitung Airport to Green Island, transfer to intra-island transportation to Green Island Lighthouse.
