What is “Old Street”?

The “Old Street” is the largest shopping street in Shenzhen and is comparable to Shibuya in Japan.

It is crowded like this. Weekends are especially crowded.

A department store called Taiyo Plaza in the middle of the building is a good place to meet up. There is also a bakery inside. I often use the restroom here.

Tips

Although it is called “Old Street,” it is not lined with old buildings. During the Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty, this area was called Shenzhen Ruins, and was the most crowded market in Shenzhen, but now there are old-style new buildings and shopping centers.
