About Dwarf Spirit Ritual Hall
In Wufeng Township, Hsinchu County, as with the Saisis of Xiangtian Lake in Miaoli, their most important ritual is the Short Spirit Festival, which is held every two years, once in the minor festival before the 15th day of the 10th lunar month and once in the major festival in the 10th year, and is considered the most mysterious and best preserved mountain ritual in the county.
How to get there
By car
1、Route 1: Exit at the Hsinchu Interchange, then take County Road 122 through Zhudong and Wufeng to the Dajie Road Police Station and Zhugejiazhuang, park your car here first, then walk to Dajie Road Village.
Tips
Like the Saishat of Xiangtian Lake in Miaoli, the northern Saishat are a mountain tribe dominated by the Dazhai Village, located in Wufeng Township, Hsinchu County.
According to legend, the Saishat adopted the worship of dwarf spirits in their New Year ceremony to pay homage to the spirits of the deceased and to pray for a safe and fruitful harvest under the shelter of dwarf spirits, and it has since become the largest ceremony of the tribe. The festival takes place around October 15 of the lunar calendar and lasts three days and three nights, divided into three parts: welcoming the spirits, entertaining the spirits, and expelling the spirits.
